Stormwater

Overview

The Stormwater Department is committed to keeping the water quality of the stormwater at the highest level for the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens.

Responsibilities

The Stormwater Department is responsible for:

  • Restoring, maintaining, and managing the City's off-road drainage system
  • Coordinating implementation of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) for the City's Stormwater drainage
  • Monitoring and reporting on stormwater quality to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Off-Road Drainage

The off-road drainage system generally consists of the drainage facilities outside road right-of-way (ROW) where the City has a utility easement.

In October of 2007 Commission approved ordinance 07-950 which established new rates for residential and commercial stormwater customers. The residential rates were adjusted in January of 2008 and the commercial rates are being adjusted at the current time.

Please reference ordinance 07-950 if you have questions about the stormwater ordinance. A copy of the ordinance can be found in the documents center of the Stormwater Department’s web page. Please contact our Utility Billing Department if you have specific questions about the stormwater rates.
