Sunshine Mathews

Commissioner Sunshine Mathews is a Florida native, with Palmetto being her hometown for most of her life. Sunshine’s family has planted roots here, where they have an extensive background in ministry, business, and law enforcement.

Commissioner Mathews graduated from Bradenton Christian School. She received her AA degree from Manatee Community College, now known as State College of Florida. She went on to earn her BS in Biological Sciences from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Commissioner Mathews has been working with the public for decades in a variety of arenas, including the medical field as an EMT, in customer service, in corporate accounting, and as a self-employed professional singer. She also has been involved in numerous humanitarian, mission, and military projects in our community and beyond. Commissioner Mathews has a genuine desire to help and serve.

Commissioner Mathews states she is dedicated to do all she can for the benefit of the people of Palmetto and the beautiful natural resources surrounding our community.

Sunshine has two pups in her home, a little Pug, and a one-year-old Frenchie.
