The Palmetto Police Department's Crime Prevention and Community Policing Unit participates in developing a deeper rapport with community members and focuses on building the relationship between children and law enforcement. The Unit is available for community events, job fairs, crime prevention presentations, security surveys, fraud awareness education presentations, speaking engagements at community and neighborhood meetings, bicycle rodeos, bicycle safety presentations and the annual Shop-with-a-Cop event.The Unit also serves as the hub for receiving and distributing requests for extra patrols and traffic patrol requests. The Unit also fills a void where other divisions are not trained or are unable to dedicate time to perform specialized tasks. Some of these specialized tasks are:
